Canon Iteration Explanation: Jonathan showed signs all through the book that, like Mina, he was tainted by Dracula or the brides, but due to the sexist nature of the Crew of Light this was ignored. Written off as Stress when his hair turned white, or vigor when he swung his large blade or moved things he shouldn't be able to. No, Jonathan was a half vampire too, when Mina died in childbirth, Jonathan took his own life. Unable to handle the idea of being without his wife.

He was spared by the crew of light on the promise he would help hunt vampires, no one told him Mina was undead as well and with Dracula. For the first 50 years of his unlife, he served as a weapon for them to kill other vampires, but he turned sour to it quickly. Realizing he felt the same as he ever did, and the vampires he killed all seemed to just want to live. When Van Helsing died, he learned the truth of Mina. Despite still being deeply in love with her, he didn't peruse her when he broke away from the hunters. Choosing to let her keep the life she made.

Over the years he spent time with the downtrodden pretending to be a photographer. Falling in love with media and the modern world. Learning to take ONLY what he needs to survive while being part of the world. Despite having money, Jonathan works as a photographer as a cover. He is still a very pleasant person despite his heavy guilt. Just wanting to help those around him.

Canon Abilities:
Canon:
• Scaling walls - Escaping Dracula's castle, he somehow climbed down the wall and fell into the river without dying. Dracula only does this by moving up and down the walls like a lizard. Jonathan had been feed on for weeks by this point.
• Imposing will on others - A set of seasoned fighters backed off when Jonathan walks past them without even trying to fight. This is also shown when some boatmen on the river who cowered in fear and prayed anytime Jonathan lifted his lamp in the night. He blamed the lamp, but it is written more that he scared them.
• Advanced Strength - throws a full box of dirt with Dracula inside off of a card before ripping the lid off

Canon AU:
• Red eyes when using power - Anytime Dracula or his children/brides use their power, their eyes glow red.
• Claw and Fangs - These extend when used to feed or fight
• Immortality - Outside of beheading, and a stake through the heart, little can kill a child of Dracula.
• Hypnosis - As with other brides, Jonathan can look someone in the eye and make them enter a transe.
○ Alter memories - He likes to remove memories of the feedings.
○ Charm - While charming before he turned, he can use a supernatural charm at times too, mostly this is used for feedings.
• Walk in the sun - Like his maker, Jonathan can walk in the sun, though it makes him very tired and still hurts his eyes so he wears sunglasses a lot.
• Advanced strength - Vampires of his stock tend to have the stength of 20 men.
• Speed and agility - Normal vampire stuff here.
• Supernatural senses - He can hear hearts, track scents like a bloodhound, though, this does not extend to taste. He can't eat normal food, and any time he tries it tastes like ash and he regurgiates it against his will.

Role Qualities/Attributes: Jonathan's nails and fangs will always be extended, unable to be retracted. Ears taking a bit more of a point (think of a Vulcan.)
Role Reasoning: While Harker started his journey with a clear-cut set of morals and faith, that changed as time passed. Both due to the horrors he faced at the hands of the Count and losing what he loved most. In the years following his change to undeath Jonathan kept his goal in mind. Help and protect others. That path doesn't always justify the means. Harker has blood on his hands and a heavy guilt on his soul that keeps him from being able to be a legend. He has the potential if he could get past his issues and remember the goal doesn't make him more of a monster.

As a familiar, Jonathan will take the features of the arctic wolf as described in the previous section. Despite his natural fear of wolves, he has the qualities often attributed to them brave, courageous, intelligent and loyal. When/If he finds a group of people he cares deeply for, he would lay his life down to protect them and follow anyone into battle if he finds the cause just and to protect others. While not a legend, he could be one day.

What was the most traumatic experience your character endured? How did this change them?
Being trapped at Castle Dracula for months on end, and knowing that his death was coming due to having to write letters lying that he had already left. All Jonathan wanted was to escape, and get back to his beloved Mina. Before being trapped, and psychologically traumatized, Jonathan never would have tried to scale down a castle face with a raging river far below, or run through woods filled with wolves that he had seen eat someone already to escape. Nor would he have become a master at the Kukri blade intending to kill the vampire who not only nearly killed him, but harmed his love and killed her best friend.

What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life, and why?
Wilhelmina Murray-Harker, Jonathan's fiancé then wife. They grew up together as orphans, Jonathan always adored and looked up to Mina. Even breaking gender norms by holding her arm when they walked together instead of vise versa. At least until she became an etiquette teacher and he a solicitor. Mina is his strength, his love, and his driving force. There is nothing he could not, or would not, do for her. An example was him not being happy about her staying with Lucy while he was gone, but not trying to stop it. He wanted her happiness above all. Even if he knew he couldn't keep her in the riches Lucy lived in.

What does your character feel like they struggle with still? Where could they improve? This could be physically, mentally, emotionally, or otherwise.
Guilt, Jonathan will always struggle with heavy guilt for not only helping Dracula get to England, even if not on purpose, but causing Mina to be bitten by the beast. They had no secrets between them before Van Helsing and the Suitors convinced Jonathan Mina was too weak to handle it due to being a woman. Had he not listened, she would have been prepared for what happened. This guilt also carries on to her death, even if he knows she lived on and went to Dracula. He blames himself for the pregnancy. He does not blame her for leaving though, had she stayed they would have made him kill her, as they did with Arthur to Lucy.

Plus the murdering of other vampires over the next 50 years. He knows many of them were not bad, and that is innocent blood on his hands. As innocent as any vampire can be. This guilt is why he still won't drink as much as he can, and refuses to kill in feeding unless he has to, or it is a mercy. Jonathan has to learn to forgive himself for the things outside his control.

If your character could change one thing about their past, what would it be and why? Or why not?
As much as Jonathan would say he would wish to have never gone to Castle Dracula in the first place, he, himself, knows better. Jonathan had to be the one to go, had Mr. Hawkins been well enough to go, then Dracula would have killed his father figure and likely still Lucy as well. Those he loved would have been no safer, and without Jonathan's journal of all he experienced before reaching the convent, they never would have been able to help Van Helsing further. They likely would have never met, never would have stopped Dracula and his plans to turn England into a feeding ground. Jonathan's long suffered traumas, vampirisim and eventual loss of Mina were all worth it to help protect everyone. Even knowing what he knows now, Jonathan still would have gone and suffered for his loved one's eventual safety.

What is a time where your character failed drastically at something and how did it impact them, what did they do about it?
When Jonathan failed to stop Dracula from leaving the castle, which was not a grand attempt, but he swung a shovel down on him while he slept and scarred the vampire. Jonathan allowed an evil onto his beloved homeland of England. This mistake costs lives and pain of many, Lucy's death, the crew of the Demeter, other meals Dracula had. Mina and himself included.

When Mina was bitten he was in a trance asleep in bed beside her, he woke to her bloody the crew of light in their room and her screaming she was unclean when he tried to hold her. His hair turned white that night from it all. From that day, Jonathan worked hard to learn to wield a Kukri knife, bribed and fought to take down Dracula to save Mina. It was his blade that cut the throat of Dracula, putting an end to the nightmare, at least at the time he thought so.
